Saline Tattoo Removal
Saline removal presents a distinctive approach to the elimination of permanent makeup pigments, crafted to entirely erase pigments from the body. This method involves the application of a sterile saline solution (salt water) and is effective for various permanent makeup applications, including Brow Tattoos, Lip Tattoos, Eyeliner Tattoos, Palm-sized and smaller Body Tattoos.

The saline solution is meticulously tattooed into the pigmented area, initiating an osmosis process. This process involves the salts in the liquid drawing out water from the skin and expelling the pigment molecules, effectively removing the tattoo.
Achieving complete tattoo removal typically requires multiple sessions. The number of sessions hinges on the intensity, depth, and saturation (density) of the coloured skin (pigment).

How does Saline Tattoo Removal work?
Saline tattoo removal involves tattooing a sterile saline solution into the pigmented area. The formula initiates the process of osmosis, where the salts in the liquid pull out water in the skin and remove the pigment molecules (the tattoo being removed). After the saline treatment is finished, the skin gradually returns to its natural state over several weeks.
Why Saline?
Sometimes laser isn’t the best option - especially for clients with very colourful body tattoos. Laser targets pigment, which means it’s highly effective on certain colours but may stop responding once those stubborn shades are left behind. In cases like this, I often recommend saline removal as the next step. Unlike laser, saline doesn’t rely on colour at all; instead, the solution is gently tattooed into the skin to lift the pigment out.

Saline removal does take longer, and the recovery period is slightly more involved, but it’s an excellent alternative when laser reaches its limits. It allows us to keep working safely and effectively toward lightening or removing ink that would otherwise be left behind.

Our Prices
Course of 3 Saline Removal Sessions - £150:
Typically, several sessions are required to completely remove a tattoo or effectively lighten the skin. The number of sessions depends on factors such as colours, depth of pigment, and saturation. To accommodate this, we provide courses of three sessions, each spaced 8 weeks apart. While this doesn't guarantee full removal, it's an affordable option at a discounted price compared to individual sessions.
Saline Lip Line Removal - £60:
Specifically designed for lip pigments containing high titanium dioxide, this service is advised over laser tattoo removal. Priced at £60, it covers the removal of the top or top and bottom lip line, excluding the actual lip. Saline removal is a unique method using a sterile saline solution, tattooed into the pigmented area. Consultations and patch tests are recommended 48 hours before treatment for evaluation and discussion of the process and aftercare.

Pros and Cons of Saline Tattoo Removal
Pros of Saline Tattoo Removal

Gentler, Skin-Focused Method
Saline removal works gradually and does not rely on heat, making it a gentler alternative to some other removal techniques.

Suitable for All Skin Types
Because saline does not target melanin, it can be safely used on a wide range of skin tones.

Effective on All Pigment Colours
Unlike laser, saline can remove pigments such as white, yellow, orange, and light tones that are notoriously difficult to treat with light-based technology.

Can Be Used Anywhere on the Body
Saline is suitable for areas where laser is not always appropriate, including eyeliner and lip tattoo removal.

Cons & Limitations of Saline Tattoo Removal

Multiple Sessions Are Required
Saline removal is a gradual process and typically requires several sessions to achieve optimal results.

Not Ideal for Large Tattoos
Because the saline solution is implanted manually, treatments are time-intensive and not recommended for tattoos larger than the palm of a hand.

Slower Than Laser for Dark Ink
For black or carbon-based tattoos, laser removal is generally quicker and more efficient in the early stages.

Risk of Hypopigmentation
As with any tattoo removal method, there is a risk of lightening in the treated area, particularly if aftercare is not followed.

Temporary Skin Reactions
Redness, irritation, or inflammation can occur but are usually short-lived and part of the normal healing response.

A Tailored, Honest Approach to Tattoo Removal

There is no single “best” tattoo removal method, only the most appropriate method for your tattoo, skin, and long-term goals.
Saline tattoo removal offers a controlled, versatile, and skin-respecting option, particularly for cosmetic tattoos and stubborn pigments. In some cases, the most effective results come from combining saline and laser, rather than choosing one exclusively.
A full consultation is essential to determine the safest and most effective plan for you.
