How does Laser Permanent Makeup Removal work?

Laser permanent makeup removal selectively targets tattoo ink using high-energy laser beams. The Micro Picosecond machine, at the forefront of advanced technology, emits a specific light wavelength that effectively breaks down large ink particles into smaller, more manageable ones.

In detail, the laser emits short pulses of energy that are absorbed by the tattoo ink, causing it to break down. This process initiates the body's natural response, prompting the immune system to clear away the fragmented ink. The removal continues progressively after each session, allowing for a gradual but effective elimination of the permanent makeup.

Our expert team is equipped to handle permanent makeup removal on any area of the body, regardless of size. This includes small tattoo removal from delicate areas such as the face. Trust in the precision and expertise of our laser permanent makeup removal services to provide you with a tailored solution for your unique removal needs.

Laser PMU Removal Baldock

1

Consultation

Your journey begins with a thorough consultation, a crucial step for both first-timers and those familiar with laser permanent makeup removal. During this session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your preferences, whether you want the entire permanent makeup removed or just a part of it. Our team is here to address any questions or concerns you may have. Together, we'll devise a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

2

Treatment

Prior to the actual treatment, a patch test will be conducted to ensure your safety. This step helps identify and prevent allergic reactions or extreme side effects. Assuming the patch test proceeds smoothly, our experienced team will initiate your laser permanent makeup removal treatment. While some clients report slight discomfort, often likened to the sensation of getting a tattoo, rest assured that the process is both manageable and safe. With each session, you'll observe a gradual reduction in the visibility of your permanent makeup.

3

Aftercare

Post-treatment care is crucial for ensuring optimal results and maintaining the health of your skin. Your practitioner will provide detailed guidance on aftercare practices tailored to your specific needs. Generally, we recommend avoiding contact with heat sources, protecting your skin from UV light (including the sun and sunbeds), and refraining from intense exercise for 24-48 hours following each session.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

  1. How does laser permanent makeup removal work?
When you get permanent makeup, pigment is injected into the skin. Laser permanent makeup removal selectively targets pigment with light energy in the form of a laser. The beam breaks down large particles of pigment into smaller ones, which can be more easily cleared away by the body's immune system.

  2. When to Strike?

Unlike body tattoos, where we need to allow six months for the pigment to heal in the skin before carrying out laser tattoo removal, when targeting cosmetic tattoos, 2 months is enough. We have to allow enough time for the tissue to repair and recover before performing such an invasive procedure to avoid scarring and further trauma.

  3. UV Exposure?
One of the most important factors when preparing for a procedure is to ensure that you do not have an active tan. You must confirm that you have not been exposed to UV (Sun/Sun Beds) for 30 days. The production of melanin in the skin can cause scarring when exposed to the laser. You must also not be exposed to UV for 30 days after the procedure (it can be covered if desired).

  4. Can a permanent makeup tattoo be removed completely?
Yes, complete permanent makeup removal is possible. The number of sessions required will, of course, differ from client to client.

  5. How many sessions are required?
It completely depends on the client's skin tissue and anatomy, the permanent makeup itself, and the machine used. At The Brow Girl, we use an advanced Class 4 Medical Grade Picosecond system, which will achieve the desired results in fewer sessions compared to alternative systems.

  6. Can you remove Cosmetic Tattoos on the face?
Yes, absolutely! However on more sensitive areas such as lips and eyelids, a saline removal is more suited.

  7. Does the procedure hurt?
Pain varies from client to client. Our Picosecond system has a very short pulse and is much less painful in comparison to alternative systems.

  8. Can I have this done while pregnant and/or nursing?
    No, you cannot.

  9. I have a previous brow tattoo, do I need this removing prior to getting my brows done with you?
The answer is, possibly! I cannot answer for sure without a consultation first. Seeing your brows in person as well as working out what you're looking to achieve as well as expectations. There are lots of variables here, but it is not always necessary to have complete removal prior.

  10. What is the difference between body and PMU tattoos?
Body Tattoos are deeper in the 4th laver of skin, and Cosmetic Tattoos are superficial (supposedly) in the 2nd layer of skin. Removing body tattoos is generally more painful due to the depth of the ink, and cosmetic tattoos are a little less uncomfortable. Depending on the depth of the ink, it will take more sessions of removal to expel body tattoos, and less for cosmetic tattoos.
